During winter, our skin often looks less than perfect. The cold weather, the changes in our lifestyle and diet, as well as dehydration are to blame. However, if you want to get your skin looking in tip-top shape before the Christmas or New Year’s party, there is still time. This is what you can do:

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

There is no bigger enemy to your skin than dehydration. Start from within, by drinking a lot of water, but don’t neglect moisturizing, either. When exposed to cold temperatures and wind, the skin loses moisture much easier. Plus, since we don’t sweat as much as we did during summer, we don’t have as much seborrheic acid to counteract the effects of harsh weather.

Choose a strong moisturizing cream instead of the light lotions you used during summer. Apply at least twice a day: in the morning and in the evening, before bed. Also, exchange long hot baths (also extremely dehydrating) for quick, cold(er) showers. Cold water acts as a reinvigorating agent, which also helps you fight the first signs of aging skin.

Steer Clear of Junk Food

As soon as the weather gets colder, we’re tempted to eat a lot more than we did during the hot season and, even worse, foods that are bad for us. A bag of chips can cause an acne flare and so can chocolate. Without enough fruits and vegetables, our skin loses its glow and starts looking dull.

Don’t worry; this doesn’t mean that you have to go on a strict diet – just that you need to replace some harmful foods with their healthier counterparts. For instance, when the afternoon munchies hit, try carrot sticks or nuts and almonds instead of potato chips and chocolates. If you crave something sweet, fruits are always a great alternative. And, if you absolutely must eat greasy foods, try doing it in the first part of the day. A hearty breakfast will reduce your need to snack for the entire day.

Get a Professional Treatment

There is a simple and fast way to get the glow you wanted right before the holidays. A treatment like OxyGeneo, a super facial that rejuvenates, restores your natural glow and your skin volume might be exactly what you need.

You can choose between two formulas, one that reduces pigmentation and another that illuminates the skin. The best part is that you can literally have this treatment done right before your big party – the results are visible immediately and you don’t need any downtime.
